PWD inclusion

Focus area

This involves removing physical, social, and communication barriers so that PWDs can fully participate in education, employment, healthcare, and community life. An inclusive approach promotes equal rights, dignity, and independence by providing reasonable accommodations such as assistive devices, accessible infrastructure  and inclusive education system

Description of our Structure

"The Collectives" refers to the organization formed by the 273 Self-Help Groups (SHGs) organized into 27 Cluster Level Associations (CLAs), and the subsequent Federation Level Associations (FLAs)

“Federation Level Association (FLA)” refers to the third-tier structure, which is a coalition of three Federation Level Associations (FLAs) formed by the 27 CLAs.

  • Number: 3 FLAs, formed by the consolidation of multiple CLAs.
  • Legal Status: Registered and autonomous bodies with governance instruments and operational independence.
  • Function: FLAs represent regional interests, advocate for policy changes, and engage in lobbying, partnerships, and financial mobilization. They provide oversight, conflict resolution, and support for large-scale projects.

“Cluster Level Association (CLA)” refers to the second-tier organization formed by the 27 clusters of SHGs.

  • Number: 27 CLAs, each representing a grouping of SHGs based on geography or functional focus.
  • Legal Status: Registered and Independent legal entities with defined objectives, governing bylaws, elected leadership, and financial authority.
  • Function: CLAs act as intermediaries between SHGs and FLAs, providing technical support, training, resource access, and conflict resolution services. They facilitate coordination, advocate for community needs, and contribute to broader development efforts.

“Self-Help Groups (SHGs)” refers to the 273 founding groups that make up the Yenege Tesfa Self Help Collectives.

  • Number: 273 SHGs-
  • Legal Status: Each SHG is an autonomous entity with its own bylaws, governance structure, independent financial account, and signatory authority.
  • Function: SHGs serve as the foundational units for economic and social upliftment, directly benefiting from and shaping YT-SHC’s programmatic interventions. They are responsible for mobilizing community action, managing micro-level savings and loans, and engaging in collective decision-making and rotational leadership.
